Curating | Programme Management | Research | Writing | Community Engagement
Stephanie Chung is a curator and cultural practitioner from Hong Kong, currently based in London. Chung graduated with distinction from MFA Curating at Goldsmiths, University of London (2024), and holds a BA from the University of Hong Kong (2019), where she researched topics within the disciplines of sociolinguistics and cultural studies. Drawing on her multidisciplinay background, Chung seeks to explore the curatorial potential in participatory, interdisciplinary, and site-specific practices. Her curatorial practice is informed by research interests in language politics, the fluidity of community, publication as artistic/curatorial practice, and the potentiality of thalassocentric thinking, often engaging with political ambivalences within and between narratives.
Projects that Chung has (co-)curated in London include the site-specific programme Pipe Dreams at Chisenhale Studios (2023), the archive research project Bittersweet at Cubitt Artists (2024), Rhizomizing en route at Deptford Lounge library (2024), and the subsequent zine project

Chung’s earlier experience was rooted in Hong Kong's non-profit art sector, where she worked closely with community partners, artists, and researchers. Notably, as part of the curatorial team and a primary point of contact, she coordinated the ‘Lamma Mia Public Art Festival’ (2020-21), a community-based, research-led project on Lamma Island, Hong Kong.
Chung completed a one-year Curatorial Fellowship with Goldsmiths CCA in November 2025. During the fellowship, she produced a commissioned performance by Sophie Seita responding to Sophie Podolski’s work and co-curated a screening event with Sine Screen in response to Lawrence Lek’s solo show.
She currently serves as the Finance & Admin Officer at Lewisham Education Arts Network (LEAN) and a Gallery Assistant/Education Assistant at Goldsmiths CCA.
